  Marine, carved and finished...

Building a gun deck is a tedious process which take weeks, sometime months of planning. Before one is actually produced, I must consider both the format and concept of subject matter. Concepts are done by using my imagination to center myself in the action of battle -primarily positioning myself before a mirror and re-enacting the mood/pose of the person. From this method I am able to sketch on paper and finally make templates, utilizing them to carve the animated version which appears 'lifelike' in the scene.

The gun deck take approximately three weeks to a few months to produce, which include the gunnery and accessories. The figures remain to be the integral part of the battle station where my focus is directed. All pieces are wood produced and are carved with the grain to avoid cracks or splitting.
